In 1928 half the church of Højerup collapsed in this sea bordering the rocks of Stevns Klint, about 30 meters above sea level. The remaining half of the old church remained standing. On the site of the former altar there is now a balcony that offers a unique view over the Baltic Sea. The elements enter the church through the door that always remains open.
