The Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck, located on the banks of the Rhine in Remagen/Rolandseck, is a unique fusion of art, history, and architecture. The museum consists of two contrasting buildings: the neoclassical train station from 1856 and a modern pavilion designed by the American architect Richard Meier. The historic station building, designed by Emil Hermann Hartwich, was once a vibrant meeting place for artists and intellectuals. After World War II, it fell into disrepair but was revitalized in the 1960s as an artists’ station. Today, the museum houses collections of Hans Arp and Sophie Taeuber-Arp, alongside contemporary art exhibitions. From the museum, visitors enjoy a remarkable view of the Rhine and the town of Königswinter on the opposite bank, with the Siebengebirge hills and the Drachenfels in the background.
