Johannesburg, or iGoli – “the place of gold” in Zulu – is a city of energy, contrasts, and looming skies. Just like its gold-built foundation, the city brims with tension and transformation. In the summer months, dark clouds roll in suddenly, followed by fierce lightning bolts and thunderclaps that make the skyline tremble. These thunderstorms, as impressive as they are unpredictable, mirror the very dynamism of iGoli itself: turbulent, powerful, and constantly in motion.
